Privacy Policy
Effective September 27, 2026
Hard Talks helps you practice difficult conversations with a simulated role-play partner. This page explains what information the app uses and how.
No account required
Hard Talks does not require you to sign up or sign in, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any other account information.
What stays on your device
Your saved practice chats, your progress (level, XP, skill ratings, and streak), and your difficulty preference are stored only in the app's local storage on your device. We do not have access to them, and they are never sent to us except as described below.
What is sent to generate a conversation
When you practice a conversation, the messages in that conversation are sent to our server and then to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, so it can generate the other person's reply and your end-of-conversation feedback. If you describe your own situation, the description you type is sent the same way. This text is used only to generate that response and is handled under
Anthropic's privacy policy. We do not use this text to identify you, and we do not sell it.
Purchases
Hard Talks does not currently process any payments. If paid plans are added in a future update, purchases will go through Apple's In-App Purchase system, and we will not see or store your payment details ourselves.
Children
Hard Talks is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual saved chats inside the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all data stored on your device.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the app changes. We encourage you to check back from time to time.
